Pātai / Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stay off-site?
The kaupapa of Craft Camp is that the most value will be gained by staying on site for the weekend. From my experience of organising this type of event, the best connections are in the delightful moments in-between: while waiting in line for breakfast, during the evening when we will be running talks, walking between classes.
However there is a non-residential ticket option for a reduced ticket price of $545.
What is the cancellation policy?
CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS Base rate ticket is payable at the time of booking, or by payment plan as agreed to with Craft Camp organisers (see below).
Tickets must be fully paid by 11 July 2025. Cancellations up to 6 weeks in advance will be refunded less a $80 administration fee.
Cancellations less than 6 weeks prior will receive a 50% refund, and less than two weeks prior will receive no refund. You may pass on your ticket with the express permission of the organisers at least two days prior to the event.
Classes will be assigned in order of preference, please be aware you may not be placed in your first choice of class due to demand. We will ensure we work with your through this process to make sure your experience is as full and meaningful as we can.
CHANGES TO CONTENT, POSTPONEMENT & EVENT CANCELLATION
In the unlikely event of cancellation of this event, our liability is limited to the refund of your booking fee. We may alter the content of this event without notice to you at any time. While we are sorry if this causes inconvenience, we will not be liable for any loss, damages or sadness arising from such changes.
How do payment plans work?
If you wish to have a payment plan, you will be charged $150 to confirm your ticket. We will then be in touch within one week with the following payment options:
Full package over 18 weeks: $30 per week ($60 per fortnight, $120 per month)
Non-residential package over 18 weeks: $22 per week ($44 per fortnight, $88 per month)
Full package over 12 weeks: $45.40 per week ($90.80 per fortnight, $181.60 per month)
Non-residential package over 12 weeks: 32.90 per week ($65.80 per fortnight, $131.6 per month)
The balance must be paid by 11 July 2025. Payment can be made by bank deposit, paypal or credit/ debit card.
Can I upgrade accomodation?
Yes! Simply book a non-residential spot and then book upgraded accomodation through Silverstream Retreat. We haven’t blocked these out for our group, so they are on a strictly first-in, first-served basis.
Can I bring my kids?
You are most welcome to bring pepi under 2 free of charge. Depending on demand, we may have free on-site childcare.
Children 10 - 16 are welcome to come with you and attend your classes, however we expect you will guide them through any class and the teacher is responsible for the adult’s learning only. Materials will be provided for one person to share with your child. The cost for an over 10 ticket with accomodation is $375. Non-residential over 10 tickets are $250.
Tamariki over 16 require a full ticket, and will be included as a regular attendee.
What if i’m gender non-conforming, have health or mental health issues?
Diversity and inclusion is central to everything we do at Craft Camp. All bathrooms are non-gendered, the venue is fully accessible and we do our utmost to anticipate your needs. We have a strong Code of Conduct that all attendees must agree to before the camp. If you have any requirements due to health issues, we work with you to ensure you have access to amenities as required, including a quiet room for any reason.
Should you wish to use the standard accomodation, but have personal reasons for wanting extra privacy, book a full ticket and let us know. We’ll work with you to make you feel safe and comfortable.
The quiet room is also available for meditation, prayer or decompression.
How do I choose classes?
Once you’ve signed up, we’ll send you a form to fill in. This includes info such as dietary requirements and class preferences.
We assign classes closer to the event, and will endeavour to accomodate your top choices.
I’m immuno-compromised, but really want to come
We got you! Our Code of Conduct notes that attendees should be fully vaccinated against covid and the flu, and encourage whooping cough vaccines as well.
Masking is most welcome, and there will be plenty of hand sanitiser available.
If there are specific health measures we can take to support your attendance, please send us an email and we’ll bend over backwards for you.
This is way out of my budget! Is there any way I can join?
Kei te pai - we know this is a luxury even as we try to keep the cost as low as possible while still offering an amazing experience.
While scholarship spots aren’t yet confirmed, please fill out the scholarship form by 1 June 2025.
Should scholarship tickets come available, our priority will be Māori, Pacific peoples, the disabled community (both disabled people and their carers), and the unwaged. If you aren’t in any of these groups please don’t be put off filling out the form!
What will the kai be like?
Excellent question. Most of the meals will be catered by Silverstream Retreat. Breakfast will be a fairly simple affair, with lunch and dinner being a bit more hearty.
We are hoping to have a surprise outside caterer on-site for one meal - which is going to stay secret!
There will be fruit and a variety of home baking available at all times, tea and filter coffee along with a selection of milks.
If you have dietary requirements, we’ll collect info after you’ve purchased a ticket and cater to this. A kitchen will be available for any ad-hoc needs.
Will there be traders or a market?
Sort of - we don’t want buying more stuff to be the central part of Craft Camp. But there will be some tools, notions and supplies for sale in case you’ve forgotten something or want to start a new project. Key sponsors may be invited to offer a small selection of items to browse and buy at our discretion.
If you’re hoping to trade - sorry! It’s not that kind of event.
